Newcastle Greyhound Stadium is planning an Easter spectacular to celebrate Good Friday by slashing prices for a family admission bundle for its afternoon fixture featuring 10 races.
The Fossway venue is selling group tickets for two adults and up to four U18s for just £5 with entry including prime views of the racing from trackside, plus access to the stadium’s food and drink outlets.
The offer represents a £21 saving for families compared to a typical Friday or Saturday afternoon fixture and forms part of Newcastle Stadium’s work to engage more people with greyhound racing and its present-day operation.
Ten races will take place on the day, starting at 2.30pm, with the final race scheduled for just prior to 5.30pm. There’ll be opportunities for families to meet the stars of the track after their races too, and find out more about how greyhounds make great pets in retirement.
Ian Walton, General Manager at Newcastle Greyhound Stadium, encouraged families yet to experience the thrill of live racing to make the most of the one-off offer.
“Greyhound racing is a fantastic, family friendly, sport,” said Ian. “And there’s no better time to experience the thrill of the chase than the upcoming Easter holidays.
“We’re pleased to launch our one-off Family Admission Bundle which represents excellent value for those in search of a cost-friendly day out with friends and loved ones.
“Our weekend fixtures always prove popular and we’re hopeful of attracting a strong crowd for our Good Friday meeting which will be headlined by 10 live races and the chance for racegoers of all ages to meet the true stars of our sport, the greyhounds.
“It can be easy to assume greyhounds as being high maintenance dogs as people associate the speeds they see them reach on the track with day-to-day life. The reality couldn’t be further from those stereotypes – greyhounds are in fact possibly the laziest breed of dog a person could wish to own.
“We look forward to starting the bank holiday weekend with a bang and hope to see plenty of people trackside on the day.”
Family Admission Bundles for Newcastle Stadium’s Good Friday fixture on Friday, April 18, can be booked online via www.newcastle-greyhounds.co.uk. Doors open at 1.15pm with the first race off at 2.36pm.
